275. Bosses: Firemane

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Flame Spirit

[1/1] Observations

When Man first began to use fire not as a sacred object, but as a weapon of war, it angered a great spirit of flame, this appearing among us as a stallion, cloaked in searing fire, its body of a heat impossible to measure.

When, every once in a rare while, the Garamsythe Waterway fills with a thick fog, it is said that the Firemane is galloping its ways and channels, its fiery rage boiling the waters into steam.

276. Bosses: Rafflesia

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Aggressive Vegetable

[1/1] Observations

Being a giant plant, transformed by the dense Mist of the Feywood. The long trunk-root extending from beneath its bloom is used to draw nourishment from the elder trees it prefers.

Though it reproduces by releasing pollen from pods, the Mist interferes with germination, and actual sproutlings are rare.

277. Bosses: Mimic Queen

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Giant Insect

[1/1] Observations

Of the gregarious hordes of mimics, the Queen alone possesses the ability to reproduce. Her egg-laying capabilities being truly astounding, she has been known to lay over 100 eggs in a single day.

The eggs, already quickened within their mother, hatch with little delay into the creatures known as "tiny batteries," creating a veritable army overnight. Such is a day in the life of the Queen, and she will have very many of them, for Queens can remain fertile for several hundreds of years.

278. Bosses: Daedalus

GENUS: Boss
Classification: Guardian Statue

[1/1] Observations

Being a guardian statue of Giruvegan, set before the way stone outside the city, preventing intrusion.

When provoked, the Daedalus swings its mighty sword, laying waste to any foolish enough to approach.

To look upon its headless form is to know despair, and some conjecture that the mere sight of it has stopped many would-be interlopers from passing into the city.

279. Bosses: Ba'Gamnan

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Bangaa

[1/2] Observations

Being a bangaa headhunter, intent on capturing the sky pirate Balthier.

Vicious and cruel, he will do anything to claim a bounty, not hesitating for a moment to dirty his own hands.

Though Ba'Gamnan is guilty of more than enough to deserve a price on his own head, his unofficial role as Judge Gabranth's dark hand ensures his good name with the law.

His three henchmen are, if anything, crueler and more lacking in mores than he, were that possible.

[2/2] Ba'Gamnan's Henchmen

Big, strong, and never pushed aside until he's squeezed the last scream out of a captive is Gijuk.

No less despicable is the shady Bwagi, a relentless and sadistic hunter of men.

Lastly, Rinok gives a female touch to Ba'Gamnan's motley crew, yet if one were expecting to find a kind and gentle nature here, one would be sorely, nay, agonizingly disappointed.

280. Bosses: Tyrant

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Guardian Beast

[1/1] Observations

Being a guardian beast of Giruvegan, set by the masters of the ancient city to guard the lowermost level against intrusion.

Though originally a variety of wyvern, potent Mist has transformed its wings into sharp hook-like protrusions, a shadow of their original size.

Its undying loyalty makes the Tyrant a formidable barrier to entry into the ruin's depths.

281. Bosses: Demon Wall

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Guardian

[1/1] Observations

Being a trap set to prevent those not of royal blood from entering the Dynast-King's tomb. With twin giant swords drawn and a length of wall upon its back, this statue challenges all who would seek to profane its master's resting place.

It is thought that this fiendish device was constructed during the Galtean Alliance, and knowledge of the mechanisms of its operation has long been lost.

On the wall the Dynast-King's likeness is carved in relief, this being the last thing most intruders see before the Demonwall bears down upon them, crushing their bones to dust.

282. Bosses: Hydro

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Undead

[1/1] Observations

Being an undead, kept in this world by sheer force of will long after its body has surrendered to corruption.

While the decay of its eyes has left it blind, it senses the energy of the living and strikes with deadly accuracy.

Though it cannot be known when the creature last breathed, from the state of its yellowed bones, one can only imagine that it has walked in unlife for several thousands of years.

283. Bosses: Tiamat

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Dragon

[1/1] Observations

Being a dragon awakened by Fran's sister, Mjrn, in a Mist-frenzy.

Ancient tomes describe it as an anima of the winds, possessed of a violent temperament and destructive power enough to lead the entire world to ruin.

There are some who believe that Tiamat was responsible for the decimation of the imperial troop performing experiments on manufacted nethicite, having been awakend by the Stones' fell cry.

284. Bosses: Earth Tyrant

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Greater Tyrant

[1/1] Observations

Being one of eight legendary wyrms of great power, preferring to dwell in arid climes.

It is said that the Earth Tyrant appears as a mighty shadow within a great sandstorm, moving with the sound of rolling thunder.

Of those brave souls who have entered the sandstorm to catch a glimpse of this creature of legend, or perhaps to do battle with it, none have returned.

285. Bosses: Elder Wyrm

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Greater Dragon

[1/1] Observations

Guardian beasts of the forests, and the most ancient of the dragons in Ivalice.

Though they perished several thousands of years ago, the living things of the wood grew in them, giving them nourishment and counteracting the corruption of their flesh until they stood once more.

So they share body and soul with the wood, and suffer no intruders within its boundaries.

286. Bosses: Fury

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Wroth Spirit

[1/1] Observations

Being a wrathful spirit in the body of a dreamhare living in the Necrohol of Nabudis, its astonishing power made all the more startling by its demure appearance.

None know the limits of its strength. Indeed, many are the great creatures of legend who have lost their lives to this furry terror.

As cruel as it is cute, it stalks the shadows, looking for worthy opponents against whom to test its mettle.

287. Bosses: Vinuskar

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Manufacted Dragon

[1/1] Observations

Being a manufacted dragon of iron, set as guardian to a shrine where the followers of the ancient goddess Miriam once came to worship.

Though an eerie iron mask covers the three portions of its head, none alive know its meaning or purpose.

Nor is it known who created it, and in what age. The one thing we do know is that we no longer possess the knowledge necessary to manufact such a creature.

288. Bosses: Humbaba Mistant

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Beastlord

[1/1] Observations

Being a humbaba transformed by a powerful Mist, several times larger than its regular kin, and a fearsome sight to behold, with giant iron-hard horns at hot as molten rock.

The sword it wields is a subject of legend, for it is said that with this blade did the gods first cut Heaven and Earth in twain.

289. Bosses: King Bomb

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Ancient Bomb

[1/1] Observations

Being a fiery armament of singular destructive power among the bombs created in ancient times.

It was long thought that the bombs disappeared, never taking to the wilds, yet drawn by the massive Mist cloud left in the wake of the tragedy at Nabudis, they came to live here as odd guests in the forest.

290. Bosses: Hell Wyrm

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Dark Dragon

[1/1] Observations

Being a dragon of such high order of evil it is called the King of Hell. Legend claims that it once traveled freely between this world and the underworld spreading destruction until the gods themselves ivnervened, robbing it of the power of flight, and sending it plummeting into the abyss.

Though it spread its wings again, meaning it challenge the gods' judgement, the power of the shining glyphs they had placed upon it kept it earthbound, and so it slept for many eons in dark passages, awaiting the chance to rise once more.

291. Bosses: Ahriman

GENUS: Boss
CLASSIFICATION: Undead Lord

[1/1] Observations

In ancient times, Sochen Cave Palace was used as a ground for spiritual training by monks and ascetics. Here they purified their hearts, yet the corruption they washed away pooled, becoming the black soil out of which the Ahriman is said to have grown. The coalescence of discarded corruption hates those with pure hearts, and attacks with vengeful animosity.

For this, the Ahriman is considered an enemy by most religions of Ivalice.

292. Bosses: Omega Mark XII

Genus: Unclassified
Classification: Ancient Warmech

[1/1] Observations

An ancient weapon of war, traveling the rifts between dimensions. It's body is set with machineries and weaponry of a far higher order than anything made today. Though it is a construct, it was built with the ability to grow, and so it has evolved like a living creature.

It generates the energy it needs to live by filtering and condensing Mist from the air.
